Despite the rain, the ISSL team organised the traditional May Hike on May 21st, 2024.

On February 16th, Aldona Rzitki and Annika Siposs participated in an exhibition on eCoaching as part of the "Tag der Lehre". On December, 23rd, 2023, the traditional Christmas Party of the institute of Slavistics and Eastern European Studies Bern-Fribourg took place at the Schweizerische Osteuropabibliothek in Bern. We enjoyed the amazing buffet and participated in a pub quiz.

On December 14th 2023, the Institute of Slavic Languages and Literatures of the University of Bern organised a small cosy Christmas Apéro. We want to thank all the people who joined us and who brought their delicious food.

On Novemver 22nd, the autumn hike of the Slavistics departments of Bern and Fribourg took place. We hiked from Düdingen to Fribourg, passing the Madeleine Hermitage and the viaduct of Grandfey.

At the beginning of september, a group of students of the Universities of Bern and Basel spent one week in Poland. The programme consisted of different guided tours and even a pottery workshop.

The Russian-language Summer School took place in Riga for the second time in a row from July 10th to August 6th.

A group of students of the University of Bern spent the week from July 3rd to July 7th 2023 in Belgrade. In the morning, they would attend BCMS courses, in the afternoon, they went on different excursions.

On Thursday, July 16th, the Institute of Slavic Languages and Literature had to say good-bye to Irena Engelmann and Irena Senn. Irena Senn worked for four years as a secretary at the institute and Irena Engelman was a lecturer of Bulgarian since 2004. We are going to miss them a lot and wish them all the best!

The "May Stroll" of the Slavistics departments of Bern and Fribourg took place on Sunday, May 7th. Together we walked a part of the Way of St. James from Rüeggisberg to Schwarzenburg. What a nice day!

On Friday, December 16th 2022, the Christmas Party, organised by the Institutes of Slavic Languages and Literatures and Eastern European Studies of Bern and Fribourg, took place at the Swiss Eastern European Library. There was enough food, drinks and entertainment for everybody and the quiz challenged even the smartest ones.
